I love it. I can't think of anything else like it in football - what other fans can signal each other from a hundred yards? It's completely unique, it's not some silly made-up thing - it's brilliant.

First player I remember doing it is also Chris Powell (always wondered where he'd seen it, but he was a Hammer as a kid), but I remember the last time we had this thread someone dug up a picture along the lines of what Huffers said.

gph - that was something to do with Wonder Woman, I believe.

Yeah, looking like a cock and balancing on a basketball, could get a bit tricky

My 4 year old loves it and does it everytime he sees someone in a kit top - Tower of London last week was constant. i think thats where its best used. for kids. but interesting point that we are lucky to be able to signify our club so easily. spurs would have a problem

Agreed Hammer I Am, makes us unique and winds other clubs. What is not to like.

Gph

I believe some people are doing the "Black Panther" pose, from the movie.

Subtly difference is that one the wrists are towards the body whereas our one wrists tend to be facing sides

It’s not as stupid as the Irons chant sounds like they have got Tourette’s

I like it. If ever I see someone wearing a shirt on my travels I do the sign. Usually gets an 'irons' in return.

Re: Crossed arms Hammers pose...
What's odd is when you see players of other teams doing it.

Seen that a couple of times (can't remember which players, apart from the goal celebration in the Women's Euros, and even then, I can't remember whether it was Toone or Kelly)

Do they think it's a general goal celebration in England, or is it a coded "come and get me" message to West Ham?

There is a photo of Stuart Slater or someone similar doing it a good few years earlier.

Or Spurs fans holding their cocks.

As corny as it may be I like it! We're lucky to have such an easy way to demonstrate the team logo.

Quite unique really. No other team really has the option without looking silly, would love to see the Brighton players flap their arms up and down every time they score

Re: Crossed arms Hammers pose...
Personally, I’ve only ever seen it being done since the early 00’s, I can’t recall seeing it being done prior to that.

The ‘1895’ formation of our club has also only been a thing since Terence Brown was chairman and when they impatiently wanted to make some money in 1995 by celebrating the club’s ‘centenary’ five years earlier than it should have been. All of the official history sources cited West Ham United’s formation as being ‘1900’ before this episode.

It seems to annoy other clubs supporters so I’m all for it

Re: Crossed arms Hammers pose...
Not sure if Chris Powell was the first but I managed Tevez's apartment complex when he first arrived at West Ham. Shortly after we had an away game against Chesterfield (I think) in the league cup I was in the gym after work that was on the complex and was surprised (and fucked off with Pardew!) to see Tevez not in the squad and instead sat next to me whilst I was doing some sit ups...I knew he didn't speak the lingo so just gave him the thumbs up, showed him my hammers tattoo on my arm, and did the crossed hammers at him.

So I'm taking credit for Tevez doing it. SWT

Shame John Lyall and the Boys of 86 didn't start this nonsense. We might have won the league.⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒
